Cape Floral Kingdom
The smallest yet richest of the planets 6 floral regions!
The Cape floral kingdom includes the "Fynbos World Heritage Site". It has an amazing 9087 different plant species of which 6218 are indemic (found nowhere else on earth). Just an hour out of Cape Town at the southern tip of Africa, lies an area of such natural beauty and floral diversity as to be recognized as perhaps world's greatest biodiversity hot-spot.Size for size, this 100 000 hectare UNESCO registered Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve is home to the most complex biodiversity on our planet! Here there is around 1880 different plant species… the next richest is the South American rain forest with just 420 species per 10000 square kilometers!
And this should be enough reason why I want to assist in bringing attention to this Eden on Earth. As from September 2011 I have been capturing images of species within the Kogelberg biospere to distribute to selected outlets throughout the region and later beyond.
